Program Overview

Welcome to the Pediatric Residency Program at the University of Florida. We invite you to learn more about what we have to offer and what makes us unique.

The field of pediatrics continues to change due to the complexity of the children seen, the technologies available for pediatric care and the clinical models that we apply. Our primary focus is to create an educational environment which supports and meets the educational needs of each unique learner and gives each graduate the foundation he or she needs to be successful in his or her individual career path. We proudly offer unique opportunities for training in pediatrics with the creation of novel residency tracks at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. When you select our program, you are choosing to further your career at one of the top-ranked universities in the nation. You are choosing to learn from world-renowned clinicians and scientists at one of the best children’s hospitals in the country. You are making the decision to become a Florida Gator, and the feelings and pride that come with that title, are more than you can ever imagine.

Developing the Next Generation of Pediatric Scholars

Our goal is to develop the next generation of pediatric scholars who will distinguish themselves nationally and internationally. We will ensure that you receive outstanding clinical training while allowing you to achieve your academic goals.

Our University of Florida pediatric resident graduates continue to excel on the American Board of Pediatrics Certifying Exam.  In the midst of the pandemic, our 2020, 2021, and 2022 graduating classes achieved a 100% board pass rate.  Our current five-year board pass rate on the first attempt is 95%, which is well above the national average.  These results would not be possible without the dedication of our program leaders and the hard work put in by those residents
