Residents are counseled through their training by the program directors, chief residents and a faculty advisor. Residents are evaluated in writing at the end of each rotation by faculty and fellows using the ACGME competencies. Families, peers and staff also have the opportunity to evaluate residents twice annually via a 360 degree evaluation process.
Faculty advisors meet regularly with residents to review evaluations and to act as mentors. The Clinical Competency Committee meets biannually and ad hoc to review resident progress and all residents meet individually with the program director at least biannually. All residents take the national in-training exam yearly in preparation for the Pediatric Board examination.
