About Action for Healthy Kids

Action for Healthy Kids(r) is a national non-profit organization that addresses the epidemic of overweight, undernourished and sedentary youth by focusing on improving nutrition and physical activity policies and practices in schools. This grassroots public-private partnership of 65 organizations and government agencies supports the efforts of Teams comprised of about 10,000 volunteers in all states and the District of Columbia. Community Pediatrics Evaluation Toolkit

This toolkit contains resources to evaluate residency training experiences in community pediatrics. The evaluation instruments were initially gathered from ten residency programs funded by the Dyson Foundation. To view the toolkit, visit the American Academy of Pediatrics website.

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Tackles Childhood Obesity With Innovative Physician Toolkit

According to the CDC, the prevalence of obesity among children ages 6 to 11 has more than doubled in the past 20 years. In an effort to reduce childhood obesity and help prevent future cases of diabetes, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) is launching the Pediatric Obesity and Diabetes Prevention Pilot Program. On Tuesday, November 17, BCBSA will be introducing the pilot program and a unique physician toolkit that will be launched in five states during a briefing at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The media briefing will be webcast live beginning at 10:00 a.m. (EST) on November 17, 2009. An archived recording of the event also will be featured on for future viewing.
